just like clockwork, once wedding season comes around (especially in the spring and summer), the general theme is floral and pastel tones. well, we suggest taking a little departure from the expected. here’s what we mean…

stay true to the light shades of spring and summer, but look for muted pastels instead. that may sound like an oxymoron, but take a look at our looks below — the tones are as if the pastels were dipped in a soft grey. the result… dusty rose and powdery blue.
Payal is wearing a NAVEDA COUTURE silk kaftan-gown, hand embellished with rose-gold gemstones along the neckline. we styled payal’s look with elegant pearly-jade tops. the pale sea green in the earrings gives just enough pop of color and draws your attention to her face. notice the sensual deep-V is understated as the shape of the neckline has soft curvatures. the fluidity of a kaftan gown is goddess-like and introduces a soft-regal appeal without being ultra girly. most importantly, this sort of silhouette is effortless and comfortable. it takes any added stress away from hosting, and all eyes will be on you for your non-traditional, yet chic style choice.
Amy is wearing the Aira blouse and Noor lehenga-skirt, also from NAVEDA COUTURE. again, the theme here is comfort and effortlessly-chic. the cropped trapeze shape of the bodice adds a bohemian touch to the look, and the mock-halter neck and embellished dori (drawstring) at the shoulders show just enough skin. also, notice the hi-lo silhouette of the bodice — this is actually a sari blouse, however paired here with a lehenga-skirt to show how your wedding looks can be re-styled in a number of different ways. the hi-lo look gives the top some additional movement, and the hemline on front an back are hand-embroidered with soft ivory, powder-blue and gold tones. when choosing a somewhat cropped top, opt for a high-waist lehenga-skirt. this one is inspired by clouds, and some say it looks like a flower in full bloom. notice how the hemline is made with built-in flounces and curved edges. there is actually a very tiny wire stitched into the hemline to allow for this look. choosing a seemingly simplistic lehenga with an intriguing element shows you like to take fashion-risks, but in the most classy and elegant way.

beauty lowdown :: by mua + beauty expert, payal patel
when we think of a bridal shower look, the first thing that comes to mind is simple, soft, and elegant. these looks are exactly that! the makeup on Amy and Payal was meant to simply compliment these stunning NAVEDA COUTURE dresses.
for Payal’s eyes, we used the Master Palette by Mario eyeshadows and incorporated the shade “5th Ave”, a soft shimmery gold eyeshadow, on the lid to give it a subtle pop. for the inner and outer crease, we blended in the shades “Isabel” and “Violeta”, warm peachy brown shades, to give the eyes some definition. nude lip colors always give a softer look, so we applied one of Payal’s favorite lipsticks; “Velvet Teddy” by MAC Cosmetics. to finish off her look, we added some Milani Cosmetics bronzer in “Soleil” and “Peaches” blush by MAC Cosmetics.
since Amy’s dress design was inspired by clouds, we wanted the makeup look to showcase just that! Amy has very soft features and to enhance those features in a subtle way, we incorporated soft pinks and golds. we used the Master Palette by Mario (great palette!) and added the shade “5th Ave” to her eyelids. instead of doing the usual winged liner on her, we applied the “Nickole” lashes by RJ Lash & Co; absolutely love these mink lashes because they look and feel so natural, yet give her lashes more volume! the lipstick shade that we chose for Amy was a pinkish nude; Ingenuous by Sephora Collection. to finish off her look, we added the Soft Touch Blush in shade “109” by Kiko Milano which gives her those baby pink cheeks.
