travel + style guide to India

by our stylist + designer, amy devan ::

it’s been exactly a month since i got back from my travels to india, and i finally got a chance to go through my photos! normally, my trips to india are strictly for my clothing + accessories label, NAVEDA, but of course there is no way i can leave the motherland without some retail therapy.  this trip was no different!

when i was younger, India shopping meant hunting for traditional pieces like sarees + lehengas (because let’s face it…the options were limited in the States then). now my shopping mantra has changed (because well frankly i have enough indian clothes…literally my saree/lehenga wardrobe is over filled).   plus, given my profession, i’m able to get exactly what i need made versus impulse shopping.  that said, now when i go to India, i look for interesting pieces i can style casually or dress up, and more importantly, for pieces that blur the lines between eastern + western dressing.  it’s become all about finding pieces that will give me the most longevity (overseas + back home in the States).

here are some of my fav looks from the trip!  it was warm in the sunlight, but nights were cool.  that means packing and dressing for all seasons!  a tough thing to do!  take a peek at my styling! hope this inspires you as you pack for your next trip abroad + gives you ideas on what to look for while you’re there!
