there’s something intriguing about the contrast of culture and streetstyle. we love the idea of infusing South Asian elements into lax weekend looks…check out our take on tradition + tees.

we are both most comfortable in a plain white Tee and favorite denim…the two staples of anyone’s cas weekend wardrobe. of course, we added a South Asian twist and took inspiration from vintage India with our jewels and bindis. some of amy’s jewelry is from her own wedding (down to her mangalsutra), because well…why should bridal jewelry only be worn on your wedding day?! payal’s jewelry was taken from her mom’s vintage collection…creating a balance between old and modern.
beauty lowdown :: by mua, payal patel
the products in this look were used to bring out our natural features, while keeping the boldness of our culture in mind. we went for a light chocolate colored lipstick by MAC Cosmetics on Amy, and the Rouge Cream Lipstick by Sephora Collection in shade “Ingenuous” on Payal to show that this look can work with light and dark tones. wearing eyeliner is a big part of the Eastern culture; we incorporated a bold eyeliner, while keeping all of our other features (lashes and brows) as natural as possible.
